Food Options
Enjoy fresh, healthy, and locally sourced meals at Costa Dulce Retreat, with plenty of vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and allergy-friendly options. Costa Dulce has a farm-to-table kitchen, La Dulce Cocina, which Is a guest favorite, serving nourishing dishes that support both well-being and sustainability.
They happily cater to most dietary needs—just let us know in advance!
Visiting Town
Costa Dulce is located on a secluded beach 25 minutes from the busy tourist town of San Juan del Sur. The neighboring villages of Escamequita and Coco offer some basic shopping 10 minutes away. You will need to hire a private car to take you there. The staff at Costa Dulce can help arrange this.
Surfing
Costa Dulce offers a beach break right in front of the resort, best from mid to high tide. For more variety, Playa Yankee is just a 15-minute walk away, offering peaky A-frames and barrels, while Playa Hermosa, Romanso, and Tamarindo are all within a 20-minute drive.
Surf conditions vary by season—December through April is best for beginners, while May through November offers ideal waves for intermediate to advanced surfers. However, our instructors can take you to the best beach for your skill level year-round. Our break is typically uncrowded, while other spots in the area vary depending on the season and swell conditions.
Weather
In late February and early March, Playa Escondida, Nicaragua, experiences warm and dry conditions, characteristic of the dry season. Average daytime temperatures typically range from approximately 28°C to 33°C (82°F to 91°F), with minimal rainfall during this period.
Given the strong sun and warm temperatures, it's advisable to pack lightweight, breathable clothing, sun protection such as hats and sunscreen, and stay well-hydrated during your visit.
Gratuity
Gratuities are not included in your retreat price, but they are always appreciated by the hardworking staff, including massage therapists, surf instructors, drivers, and catamaran crew.

This trip is nonrefundable. We advise purchasing trip insurance, which can be obtained HERE.
